Having grown up in Cumbria, Anthony worked for a number of years, including time as a trade union official at local and branch level, before beginning his degree studies.
Anthony practiced from chambers in Grays Inn and the Temple before joining 39 Park Square in 2003. His first decade and a half at the bar encompassed a general common law practice, involving appearances before the Court of Appeal, (Civil and Criminal Divisions); the High Court, (in both civil and family matters); the Crown Court and County Courts; Courts Martial; the Employment Appeal Tribunal, and first instance Industrial/Employment Tribunals, (until 2003); Coroner’s Courts; Mental Health Tribunals; and the Licensing Justices. Anthony also had the odd foray into the Chancery Division, but drew the line at the one brief he received, (and returned), in the Admiralty Division.
The latter years in London, and his time at Park Square have seen Anthony specialise in a criminal practice, both prosecuting and defending. He has continued with representing clients before the Courts Martial, both at home and abroad. Anthony has experience of prosecuting for authorities and institutions outside of the CPS.
Anthony has represented clients on a private basis before internal/domestic tribunals, where the rules of the organisation/company have allowed this.
Alongside professional practice, Anthony has been involved in the instructing of advocacy skills to the pupil/new practitioner members of Lincoln’s Inn for 15 years. He is a lead tutor on the, (now assessed), residential courses organised by the Inn. |
