Family: Caroline has experience representing both Applicants and Respondents in private child law cases, care proceedings, and applications under the Protection of Harassment Act 1997. She has represented clients in final, interim and fact finding hearings, and has experience cross-examining child witnesses.
Caroline has worked with privately and publically funded clients and practices in all areas of family law, including ancillary relief. She is particularly focused on developing her experience in the financial aspect of matrimonial and cohabitation disputes and is an affiliate member of Resolution with that in mind.
Caroline is able to communicate effectively with lay clients who can approach litigation with varying levels of experience and comprehension. As a consequence she has a good track record of obtaining lay client recommendations and maintaining repeat instructions, particularly in family cases.
Civil:
Caroline has experience in personal injury, landlord & tenant; housing; contractual disputes; bankruptcy and enforcement generally. Caroline regularly appears before the County Court and advises on civil matters.
In particular, Caroline has focused on developing a practice in Landlord and Tenant alongside her practice in family. She has appeared before the Leasehold Valuation Tribunal Service and advises generally on landlord and tenant disputes. During her time as an employee of the Residential Property Tribunal Service, before commencing practice, she assisted in the development of procedure to case manage the new jurisdictional powers under the Housing Act 2004.
Crime:
Caroline successfully completed a twelve month criminal pupillage at Valios & Boardman Chambers (now 4 Breams Buildings), London. During this time, and since joining Guildford Chambers in May 2008, Caroline has practised as both a defence and prosecution trial advocate in the Magistrates, Youth and Crown Courts, with instructions from local and London-based solicitors and prosecuting authorities. She will continue to practice crime on the North-Eastern Circuit. |
