Extensive experience both prosecuting and defending the full spectrum of criminal offences.

Substantial experience in sexual offences such as rape and sexual assault, grooming and gross indecency, the possession and distribution of indecent photographs of children. Also large scale public disorders, drug conspiracies and money laundering, firearms offences and cases involving serious violence and dishonesty.

Areas of Work:

R v. Swinbank (Rape and Murder)
Successfully defended multiple allegations of rape and assault upon a prostitute caught in part on CCTV. Upon release from custody the defendant went on to viciously stamp to death a fellow alcoholic who made a homosexual advance towards him.  Issues involved cut-throat defences, diminished responsibility and provocation (led in the murder).

R v. Foley et al (3 week Violent Disorder)
Defended in a case involving a prison riot during which Prison Officers were stabbed and assaulted. Defendant believed to be the controlling mind behind the entire disturbance. Issues re prisoners’ rights, prison procedure and Home Office guidelines and regulations.

R v. Thon Van Liu et al (7 week Drug Conspiracy and Money Laundering)
Defended in a large-scale drug conspiracy involving the Vietnamese and Chinese community across the North East and London setting up multiple cannabis factories and placing illegal immigrants as caretakers. Money laundered through casinos and businesses.

R v. Stewart (Historic Sexual Abuse)
Defended in a case involving allegations of reported sexual assault by four separate complainants. The defendant visited their family homes for social events during which he would sneak upstairs and abuse the children whilst in bed.

R v. Hill (Rape and Historic Sexual Abuse)
Successfully defended in a case involving three generations of complainants and defendants where two of the sisters went on to further accuse this man after the successful prosecution of the other males.

R v. Barker (Rape)
Successfully defended an allegation of rape upon a 22 year old girl by her best friend whilst asleep after a night out drinking.

R v. Greenwood (Rape and Indecent Assault)
Successfully defended one of two homosexual mean living together and accused of the grooming and repeated rape and assault of a 12 year old boy drifting between them, his parents and another male who committed suicide.

R v. McDonald (Possession of Indecent Photographs of Children)
Defended in a case involving over 700 indecent photographs and videos of children downloaded from the internet and exchanged through yahoo profiles. The defendant claimed to have received unsolicited pop-ups and to have collated images during genuine academic research. Complicated expert evidence proved otherwise.

R v. Johnson (Firearms)
Defended a gun enthusiast arrested in possession of a whole arsenal of old classic revolvers and ammunition. Some proved to be antiques, classified and exempt from certification, some replicas and some modified by the defendant. Argued exceptional circumstances and successfully avoided the five year minimum sentence.

R v. Caroge et al (4 week Conspiracy to Commit Fraud)
Defended in a case involving teams of Eastern European illegal immigrants traveling across the country fixing false facias over ATM machines and stealing people's money and personal details to huge extent.
